Edward L. Hunt is the Director of the New York Theological Seminary (NYTS) Master of Professional Studies Program at Sing Sing Correctional facility, a position he has held since 2000. He also serves NYTS as a Professor of Pastoral Care. He teaches Introduction to Pastoral Care, Crisis Counseling, Hermeneutics, The Art of Worship, and, Biblical Storytelling. Dr. Hunt is a graduate of the Virginia Union University School of Religion where he earned the Master of Divinity (1964) and of The University of Florida where he earned the PhD (1972).

Dr. Hunt retired from the Sing Sing Correctional facility as Senior Chaplain after 32 years of service. Dr. Hunt is a registered therapist. He has worked with the criminally insane at the New York State Department of Health and with troubled youth at the New York State Division of Youth.

Dr. Hunt is an ordained American Baptist Minister and Moderator of the Mid-Hudson/Union Association of American Baptist Churches in Upstate New York. Dr. Hunt has been the Pastor of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Wappinger Falls, New York since 1982. Under his leadership, the church has completed an eight-million dollar building project to construct a new church building, and refurbished the original church building, now known as Founder’s Building.
