NYTS Seeks New Director for the Master of Professional Studies (MPS) Program
New York Theological Seminary
New York Theological Seminary seeks a Director of the Master of Professional Studies (MPS) Degree, which is offered by the Seminary at Sing Sing Correctional Facility in Ossining, New York. The Director, a member of the NYTS core faculty, manages academic and administrative aspects of the Degree Program, including, in conjunction with the Seminary Dean and the MPS Faculty Committee, curriculum development and securing qualified instructors. The Director also oversees the admissions process each year for candidates for the Degree, who are recruited and admitted from New York State Correctional Facilities throughout the State. A key component of this work is relating to the Senior Administration and Correctional Officers of the Sing Sing facility, as well as volunteers from local churches and other faith-based and educational organizations, who help tutor and minister to the students in the Program. Expected qualifications for this position include a Master’s degree from an accredited theological school and a doctoral degree in a theological discipline (Ph.D. preferred), and a willingness to be involved in promotional and fund-raising aspects of this program. Experience in work with correctional facilities would add value to the application. The Director should also be able to teach classes in the MPS program, as well as on the main campus of the Seminary in New York City, as needed. To apply please send a letter of introduction, your curriculum vitae, and a list of three references with contact information to Dean Efrain Agosto (firstname.lastname@example.org) at New York Theological Seminary on or before December 1, 2019. We hope to have someone in place for this position no later than July 2020.
