How to Apply
Thank you for your interest in New York Theological Seminary’s programs. As you prepare to join the NYTS family, rest assured that you are joining generations of faith and thought leaders. Please note that in addition to the application found here, each program has its own admission requirements. Please check the website for the program you are applying to for the requirements.
How to Apply
- Online Application and Fee
- Complete an essay following the instructions on the application checklist.
- Official Transcript(s) of all undergraduate and graduate work.
- Three letters of Recommendation-Academic, Ministerial & Professional.
- Proof of Identity (state-issued driver’s license, state identification card, or passport).
- TOEFL Score (if English is not your first language)
- Financial Aid-Complete a FAFSA and NYTS Scholarship Application (To complete these applications please see financial aid on the website).
- The admissions committee requires that all transcripts from institutions from outside of the United States or Canada be sent to a professional transcript service for a course-by-course evaluation.

NYTS reaffirms its long-standing policy of non-discrimination. The Seminary is an academic institution that, in compliance with federal, state, and local laws, does not engage in illegal discrimination on the basis of race, color, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, marital or parental status, citizenship status, veteran status or disability in its educational program and activities, including employment, or in admission to programs or activities. Additionally, it is the policy of NYTS that all actions within the Seminary toward students and employees will be based on performance-related criteria. Attitudes and preferences of individuals that are personal in nature, such as private expressions or sexual orientation, will provide no basis for judgment related to such individuals.

The more I learn about the history and service of NYTS, the more I appreciate the unlimited possibilities of our bold future. For over 120 years, NYTS has been a sacred space dedicated to providing a relevant theological education that prepares men and women to serve humanity.
Through the creative collaboration of students, faculty, staff, alumni and trustees, we have begun to reimagine what NYTS represents in our community and our world. While political turmoil, social upheaval, and economic crises narrate our current reality, NYTS continues to shine as a beacon of hope for those called to serve humanity.
