Biography: Mrs. Watkins’ experience includes attorney at a law firm and Public Defender Service of the District of Columbia; Political Science instructor, Seattle Central Community College; Director of the Office of Career Services, George Mason University School of Law; Counsel to former Mayor Sharon Pratt Dixon of Washington, D.C., and Council Member Larry Gossett of Metropolitan King County Council, Seattle, Washington; and Law Clerk, to a Superior Court of the District of Columbia.  Her most recent position was Executive Director for the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle. Since retiring she has focused on women’s business development and philanthropy. 

Throughout her 35 year career, she has served the community as a board member, executive director, president, and trustee. She is one of the founding members of the Westchester Children’s Museum elected twice as trustee to the Board of Education for the City School District of New Rochelle, Commissioner of the New Rochelle Board of Appeals on Zoning and past president of the Board of Opera Noire of New York.

Mrs. Watkins has contributed to the organizations she has served using professional skills developed during a career in the legal and nonprofit fields. She was a member of the Building Committee for St. John’s Episcopal Church and Monroe College Foundation. She is a current member of the Westchester County Chapter of The Links, Inc. and Grace Baptist Church in the City of Mount Vernon serving as a member of the Legal Ministry, Ministry of College & Career Alliance, and Finishing Grace Capital Campaign.
