Job Opportunity with The Brick Presbyterian Church, NY

The Brick Presbyterian Church is searching for a part-time Director of Children’s Ministry. The Brick Church is a 250-year-old congregation with a long and rich tradition of children’s ministry through its Sunday Church School (250+ children) and a vibrant 75-year-old Day School.  While we enjoy this rich tradition, we recognize that there are many opportunities for us to embrace new ways to deliver this ministry.  As we reassess how we minister to our children and embrace changing family preferences, The Brick Church is seeking an energetic and passionate leader to invigorate the existing programs.

The Director of Children’s Ministry is responsible for planning, implementing and coordinating the Sunday Church School education program for 250 children (infants through 7th grade) and 100 volunteers on Sundays, one weekly activity, and 6-8 special events throughout the year (e.g., a Christmas Pageant, Advent and Palm Sunday special activities, and other seasonal events). The Director works closely with and reports to the Associate Minister for Faith Formation and works collaboratively with the Director and staff of The Brick Church School, a fully accredited nursery school.  The position requires 20 hours per week with a minimum of five hours on Sunday.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in early childhood and/or elementary education or a degree in Christian Education, and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in an educational setting. The ideal candidate will exhibit a love for children and their spiritual growth; an orientation toward excellence in teaching and leading; support the overall mission of the church; and be organized, creative, and a team player who is comfortable working with diverse constituents.

Salary Commensurate with Experience. Interested candidates should contact Rev. Adam Gorman at AGorman@brickchurch.org.
