NYTS Congratulates MDiv Alumna Rev. Dr. Patricia Murphy on her Elevation

ABHMS names associate director for chaplaincy and specialized ministries

Murphy-Patricia-NEW-DSC_1368-for-webVALLEY FORGE, PA (xxx)—American Baptist Home Mission Societies (ABHMS) is pleased to announce that the Rev. Dr. Patricia Murphy has been named associate director for chaplains, pastoral counselors and those serving in specialized ministerial settings.

Rev. Dr. Murphy, or Pat, as she prefers to be called, began her service with ABHMS on Monday April 3rd.  Dr. Murphy has been serving as Protestant & Palliative Care Chaplain with NYC Health and Hospitals/Coney Island, located in Brooklyn NY.  She is American Baptist ordained and also an endorsed ABCUSA chaplain! With more than a decade of teaching and preaching experience, Pat is experienced working in a variety of ministry settings. A compassionate and empathic minister, she has expertise in Bio-Medical Ethics, including a post-grad certificate from the Montefiore/Cardozo Law School. Pat has also been serving as Associate Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, an American Baptist congregation in Jamaica, Queen NY.

Her educational background is also noteworthy. A graduate of Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Science, Pat obtained her MDiv from NY Theological Seminary and holds a D. Min. from Wesley Theological Seminary.
